Rough Cut

  1. Editing: I thought the use of cut shots at the beginning was very effective, as it created a flow throughout the film. However the use of fade-in's and fade-outs aren't as effective as it would have been if you used cut shots, as it doesn't feel like a thriler-like film. The colour editer, where you changed it to black and white is very good as it establishes to the audience it's a flashback and explains more about the story to the reader.

Camerawork: opening shot was good as it introduced the main character and the main location (school), close up was good as it gave good detail about the film a 'stalker' and everything alright. The hand-held shot with long shot, was very effective as it demonstrated to the viewer the full genre of the film which was a thriller, however maybe you could darken it as they wouldn't be chasing through daylight, and would of been good with a man-on-action shot somewhere. :)

Sound: The background soundtrack, was VERY good and very effective, it made the feeling that all her actions were building up to one big thing, as the soundtrack made a noise when something happened till it reached the climax. Even the scream at the end was perfect, as it was exact match to the second of the footage. Well done!

Mise-en-scene: The lighting in this scene was particularly not the best as you could have had it brighter on the opening shot, and darkened it towards the end of the footage to create more realismn, and bring out the thriller genre. The props such as the phone was good, they all had a meaning to the footage and not just there just for the sake of it, but could of done with maybe 1 or 2 more props which'd enhance the genre. The location was good at the beginning, where she was in school because it show's the main actors everyday life and where it's going to be based, except for when she goes out you could have chosen a dark alleyway to enhance the genre again. The titles of the characters/members were good, however the production company/logo wasn't the best as you could have made something, as everyone enjoys the production company/logo opening.

Thriller Conventions: In this footage we are made to feel that the main actor is the protagonist, and is well presented. As it has the feeling she's being watched and followed all the time till the 'chase'. Well presented, was very good.

  2. Camerwork - The use of match on action at the start worked well for the scene. The use of different camera shots and angles also worked and was edited together well.

Also the handheld follow shot worked well and made it seem like someone is following the girl as she keeps looking behind

At the end when she starts running and falls over, this makes the viewer want to watch on and find out what happens, especially as the screen goes blank and the end

Editing - The part where the film changes to black and white is quite effective and makes the viewer feel it is a flashback.

Soundtrack - The soundtrack was very mysterious and made the whole scene very effective as it created tension. Also the background music put together with the background noise from the footage also created dark mood

The production company title was quite plain, possibly think about changing this slightly
